A 6-week program on becoming a conscious and mindful parent.

From mommy wars to toddler tantrums a parent’s life is full of chaos, and often shame and anxiety, leaving most parents feeling like they can’t meet their children’s emotional needs let alone their own.

In this 6-week program, mindfulness and life coach, Christina Fletcher will offer you:

  • Mindfulness practices that will keep you present and aware through the day’s activities, no matter how busy you are.
  • Tools to become consciously aware of the parent you want to be.
  • Processes to release the negative chatter and sense of failure that might block your ability to connect with your children.
  • Self-Awareness, so you will be able to understand your own reactions and set new patterns in your own parenting.
  • A deeper understanding of who your children really are, why they are acting the way they do and processes to work with them in compassion and harmony.

Conscious and Mindful Parenting is focused on infusing the work of self-awareness and mindfulness into our parenting approach, so that we can be present and aware within each challenge raising a family can bring to us. Studies are showing that parenting mindfully decreases stress levels in their homes and solutions to difficult problems are found easier and more successfully. Also, it is pro-actively reducing stress for children when parented with mindful parenting techniques, creating a foundation within the home of listening, compassion and co-operation.

What to expect
Within this 6 week program, participants will meet as a group for 2.5 hours each week, where they will learn how to create mindfulness in their own parenting, develop knowledge of who they are, what their own childhood taught them and how they can create new patterns and habits to be the parent they want to be, through meditation, short talks,  exercises, group discussion, and home practices.. They also will receive take home resources and handouts, which they can use in future situations.

Who should attend
Parents who are struggling with feeling overwhelmed, underappreciated, anxious and stressed, but who crave a loving, compassionate and connected relationship with their children as well as themselves.

Materials
Participants can use our meditation Zafu cushions and yoga mats during the sessions or are welcome to bring their own. Chairs will also be available. It is advisable to wear loose, comfortable causal clothing. All handouts and materials will be provided and are included in the program fee.

Enrollment is limited as our groups are small (about 12-13 people). Pre-registration is required.
