The word yoga means ‘to join’ or ‘to yoke’ and is the integration of the body, mind and spirit. At Breathe Mindfulness Centre, it is our deepest wish that you develop an inner sense of peace among your body, mind and spirit.

Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years, and has more recently increased in popularity within Western societies. There is a growing body of research that demonstrates the benefits of yoga as a physical and psychological intervention. In fact, many individuals are recognizing the psychological benefits that yoga brings. It is being used as a means of coping with various mental health issues that are prominent in our society. However, yoga is about more than being able to cope with emotional distress. In our Mindful Yoga classes, we move beyond the physical asana to encourage a sense of self-acceptance, compassion, and empowerment. Please read below for more information on our specific classes.

YOGA FOR PERSONAL EMPOWERMENT AND CARE 

Katrina’s classes invite personal empowerment through choice and intuitive action. In these classes you will learn classic Hatha Yoga forms and sequences while following your own pace. Move through your practice with guidance, but also freedom to explore how you want to move in the moment. The focus of these classes is on your personal experience with the yoga forms. Notice your muscles as they engage to hold a posture or stretch in a form.

All experience levels are welcomed.

What to expect
Lessons are 60 minutes long. It doesn’t matter if you are experienced with yoga or not at all. Each student has different needs. You are welcome to go at your own pace and to make choices in your practice to suit your needs. It is advisable to bring water and wear comfortable clothing.

Materials
Yoga mats, blocks and cushions are available at the Centre but you are more than welcome to bring your own.

I’m a first-timer to your Centre. What do I need to know?

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to sign our contract and have a quick chat with Katrina regarding any concerns or questions you may have.

Please note that latecomers will not be permitted. It is our intention to provide a safe, peaceful environment for the entire 60 minutes.

As space is limited ,  pre-registration for this series is recommended to ensure a spot in the class. You are also welcome to sign-up anytime, space permitting. For the Series to run, limited enrollment applies. Given the discounted series price, refunds and/or credits will not apply once the series begins.

Are individual, private yoga sessions available?

Drop-In – $15.00 (HST included).

8- Week Series – $100.00 (HST included).

YOGI KIDS 

 Yogi Kids is more than just learning Yoga poses. Yogi Kids is a holistic approach to nurturing confident kids, using mindfulness activities (Mind), yoga asanas and breathing awareness (Body), with social-emotional development (Heart) to nurture the whole child.

As a Yoga instructor, Mindfulness educator and counselor, Trish combines these three pillars into a fun-filled, creative and supportive Yoga class for children and families.

Yogi Kids develops confident, resilient and focused kids on and off the mat.

Yoga and mindfulness has benefits ‘off the mat’ for children (and adults!):

  • Improves friendships
  • Fosters openness and honestly
  • Improves problem solving skills

Yogi Kids Classes – 6 Week Series:

Yogi Tots – Parents and Tots 2-4 years
Enjoy one on one time with your toddler. Breathe together, play together and relax together. Mindfully move together in Yoga poses through stories, games and creative fun while learning basic yoga practices.

Fee:

  • 2x week for 45 min – 12 classes $140.00 (HST included).
  • 1x week for 45 min – 6 classes $75.00 (HST included).

 

Yogi Kids 5-8 years
Yogi Kids is fun. Yogi Kids is engaging. Yogi Kids is for every child. In Yogi Kids class, children develop a positive sense of self and connection to others through Yoga partner poses, breathing, asanas, mindfulness activities, games, stories and creative fun. Life skills such as courage, self-confidence, focus, empathy, friendship and resilience are explored through yoga and activities, on and off the mat.

Fee:

  • 2x week for 45 min – 12 classes $140.00 (HST included).
  • 1x week for 45 min – 6 classes $75.00 (HST included).

 

Yogi Tweens 9-12 years
Explore, discover and enjoy getting connected to yourself and others through Yoga. Take the delightful journey, as each class takes you through yoga asanas, mindfulness activities, breathing, creativity and the Chakras. You will have fun, strengthen your body, and calm the mind. Yogi Tweens classes will provide strategies for you to use anytime to manage stress, to increase self-determination, self-confidence, focus and strength. No prior knowledge of yoga is necessary.

Fee:

  • 1x week for 60 min – 6 classes $90.00 (HST included).

 

Yogi Family Special: Parent and Child Time 5-10 years
Enjoy Mindful Yoga together. This class is specially designed for parent and child, ages 5-10 years. Have fun together as you connect doing Yoga partner poses, breathing, asanas, mindfulness activities, games, stories and creative fun. Build together trust, confidence, communication and empathy and most important friendship.

Fee:

  • 1x week for 60 min – 6 classes $90.00 (HST included).
