SUMMARY:Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) 8-Week Program  at DPS* - DARTMOUTH\, NS
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays\, October 8 – November 26\, 2026 at 2:00pm – 4:30pm. Includes a full day mindfulness silent retreat on November 14. \nAn 8-week program to help you manage stress and promote long-term wellness.\nFacilitated by: Andrea Ennis (she/her)\, Registered Psychologist & MBSR Teacher\, Dartmouth Psychological Services Inc. \nExperience the MBSR program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn\, clinically proven to help people manage stress\, chronic pain\, and physical and mental health challenges. Learn practical mindfulness\, cognitive-behavioural\, and self-regulation skills to reduce reactivity and cultivate greater awareness\, balance\, and choice in daily life. \nWhat to expect\nWeek 1: Orientation + Session 1\nAn overview of the program and an introduction to mindfulness practice will be provided.  Before this session\, a mandatory phone interview (10-15 minutes) for those new to the Centre or Facilitator will be arranged to review eligibility and ensure the program will be beneficial for you. The duration of this first session is approximately 3 hours with participation being mandatory for continued participation in the program. \nWeek 2-8: Sessions 2-8\nParticipants will meet as a group with a facilitator(s) once a week for 7 more weeks. Each session is approximately 2.5 hours long and is organized around a theme that is explored through short talks\, experiential exercises\, group inquiry and mindfulness meditation practices. Digital materials to reinforce session themes and support home practice are provided. Commitment to attendance and home practice is an essential component for participation in and effectiveness of the program.  \nDay of Silent Retreat\nIn addition to these sessions\, there will be one full-day mindfulness silent retreat held on November 14\, 2026\, between weeks 5 and 7. Although this is not mandatory\, it is highly recommended to attend. \nFee: $750 (HST and materials included)\n\n\n\nIs this program for me?\nWho Should Attend: This program is designed for anyone interested in learning strategies designed to help manage stress and promote long-term wellness. It is also intended for professionals interested in integrating mindfulness-based principles and techniques into their work or as the first step in pursuing MBSR teacher training. DESCRIPTION:Thursdays\, 6:00PM – 9:00PM Beginning October 20\, 2026. \nIncludes a half-day silent retreat\, Saturday\, November 28. \nAn 8-week program that combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion to enhance emotional wellbeing. In this program\, you will learn how to be with difficult emotions and moments in your life with kindness\, care and understanding and develop resources to safeguard your own well-being when navigating relationships and life’s challenges.\nCo-facilitated by: Jacqueline Milner\, Registered Psychologist/Advanced Certified Mindfulness and MSC Teacher and Cheryl Oxford\, Registered Psychologist/MSC Teacher Trainee of Deep Dive Trauma and Recovery \nIn this 8-Week program participants will learn: \n\nmindfulness and self-compassion practice for everyday life\nhow to stop being so hard on yourself\nhow to motivate yourself with encouragement rather than criticism\nhow to handle difficult emotions with greater ease\nhow to transform difficult/challenging relationships\, old and new\nhow to manage caregiver fatigue\nthe theory and empirically supported benefits of self-compassion\n\n\nIs this program for me?\nNo previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is necessary to attend MSC. This program is designed for anyone who wishes to integrate and cultivate greater self-compassion into their lives and/or work.
