Summary of popular workplace offerings by Breathe

The following is a summary of common offerings for workplaces and organizations provided by Breathe. Please note, that these are examples only and we would be pleased to discuss and develop any customizable offering that you may be envisioning for your team.

Mindful Yoga

Suitable for all levels, mindful yoga is a safe, gentle practice that combines flowing between postures (asanas), mindfulness, and meditation. Unlike other types of yoga, the primary focus of mindful yoga is mind-body awareness rather than unique alignment and exact physical posture.  By embodying the essence of mindful yoga (breathing, listening to the body, feeling what arises, letting go of judgments and striving, and being in the present moment), a deeper connection with the mind, body and spirit is encouraged.  In addition to improving flexibility, strength, and mobility, mindful yoga enhances emotional and mental wellness and fosters a sense of self-acceptance, compassion, and empowerment.

Benefits of Mindful Yoga include:

  • Improves overall physical health
  • Reduces chronic pain
  • Improves brain function
  • Calms the mind
  • Improves physical balance
  • Increases energy levels
  • Increases positive emotions
  • Improves sleep quality
  • Reduces stress
  • Helps to cope with other negative emotions like anxiety and depression

Mindfulness Meditation

Suitable for all levels, this session introduces participants to both still and gentle movement meditation practices. Practices are guided and embody the essence of mindfulness: being in the present moment with awareness, curiosity, non-judgement, and compassion. A review of the important elements of posture and adjustments to support comfortable practice will be offered as well as how to develop and maintain a regular daily meditation practice.

Benefits of Mindfulness Meditation include:

  • Increases concentration, focus and memory
  • Increases resiliency and coping with stressful events
  • Improves sleep and increased energy
  • Increases capacity for perspective-taking
  • Reduces anxiety and depression
  • Improves physical health, immunity, and overall wellbeing
  • Increases compassion towards self and others
  • Increases happiness and enjoyment in life

Exploring Mindfulness

This workshop offers an overview of what mindfulness is by reviewing the core principles of mindfulness and its benefits. Participants will be offered a variety of short mindfulness practices to experience mindfulness firsthand.  Information on how to develop and maintain a regular practice after the workshop is over along with resources will be provided.  See below for more information about mindfulness.

Exploring Mindful Self-Compassion

This workshop will offer an overview of mindful self-compassion, a powerful skill that enables us to deal with self-criticism and negative self-talk and move toward greater happiness, resilience, and overall mental wellbeing.  Self-compassion helps us develop a more caring relationship with ourselves, especially when we struggle, fail, or make a mistake.  It allows us to stand up to harm, set boundaries and communicate effectively as well as cope with negative feedback from others.  Research shows that practicing self-compassion reduces stress, anxiety, depression, and perfectionism and increases mental flexibility, maintains healthy habits, and leads to more compassionate, satisfying relationships with others.  In the workplace, self-compassion training has been linked positively to the outcomes of work engagement, security, work safety, trust, job satisfaction, creativity, emotional intelligence, and decreased burnout.

Mindful Self-Compassion for Those in Supportive Roles and Navigating Burnout

This workshop is an adaptation of the more general Introduction to Mindful Self-Compassion workshop (above) and is focused on those who are in professional and personal roles where there is an emphasis on the care and support of others and who may be experiencing burnout or empathy fatigue.  Specific practices and guidance will be offered to care for and hold space for another while at the same time caring for our own wellbeing.

Mindfulness and Compassion at Work

The essence of the workshops Exploring Mindfulness and Exploring Mindful Self-Compassion is combined to offer an overview and experience of these two powerful skills sets for enhancing wellbeing in the workplace and life in general.

Resourced: A Holistic Approach to Decreasing Stress and Enhancing Wellbeing – 2-Hour Workshop

Stress is an inevitable part of life that is experienced by everyone.  When stress is severe and/or chronic, it can negatively impact our wellbeing. In this workshop, we will explore what stress is, its impact on our wellbeing and be offered guidance and practical tools to reduce stress, increase resilience and enhance joy. The four dimensions of wellness, body, mind, emotions, and spirit will be reviewed in depth with mindful practices being offered throughout the session. Resources will be provided to access after the workshop is over to continue to support participant wellness.

Let’s Sleep! Improve Your Health, Mood, and Mind with Better Sleep

Getting enough good quality sleep is essential for overall well-being.  Sleep affects both our mental and physical health. It is the foundation on which we have the energy to engage in other healthy thoughts and behaviours and show up fully in our lives.  Good sleep promotes productivity, efficiency, mental clarity, and overall contentment. Getting too little makes us vulnerable to experiencing more stress, illness, and poor mental health.  In this workshop, you will be provided with a review of the importance of sleep and offered information and practical guidance on improving the amount and quality of your sleep. Included will be resources to access after the workshop is over to continue to assist with improving this important area of wellness.

Working with Difficult Emotions

Difficult and challenging emotions are a part of being human.  So many of us wish to be free of these painful emotions and spend many resources trying to get rid of or avoid feeling them, which is also very human.  In this workshop, participants will be invited to explore a different, more skillful approach to working with difficult emotions by applying attitudes and skills of mindfulness and self-compassion. Ways to enhance happiness will also be reviewed to create a further resource in the face of difficulty.  Please note, this workshop is intended as an introduction to how mindfulness and self-compassion can be useful in the face of challenging emotions and is not intended to replace professional mental health support.

Cultivating Joy: The Power Of Gratitude

In this workshop, participants will be provided with information and practices scientifically proven to enhance happiness. Topics covered include savouring, gratitude, self-appreciation, living in accordance with one’s values, and loving-kindness.
